How many times have you thrown a sandwich in a plastic sandwich bag for lunch? What did you do with it after lunch? You may very likely have thrown it away and thought nothing more of it. Some of you may have brought it home, washed it out, and reused it – some of you. Most people will throw their bags away as they can’t be bothered with sticking it in their pocket or purse to reuse later. Some may also buy those re-useable, silicon sandwich bags that come in different colors and sizes for snacks or lunch. I know of a few people who do – but even they say that they hate having to clean them for re-use when they’re pressed for time or just feeling lazy.
So what other alternative is there that is also environmentally-friendly? How about sealable paper sandwich bags? Never heard of such a product? Well, Lunchskins makes just such an item, and not only are they non-wax paper (so recyclable), but they are sealable (so no mess), and they are pretty tough too – they seem to be made to take some abuse.
Whether you’re wanting to cart around a snack of your favorite chips, nuts, or candies, or perhaps want to pack up a sandwich or wrap for lunch, these bags can transport your food and not leave you feeling guilty about your meal’s impact on the environment. After all, there’s no point in eating vegan for the sake of the planet, only to have the thing you packaged it in wind up in a landfill or somewhere out in the ocean, right?
These great little bags are very handy, particularly for those times when it might not be convenient to carry around a re-useable container after you’ve eaten. they come in boxes of 50, and can be purchased at easy-to-find stores such as Walmart, Target, and through Amazon.
There are several patterns such as apples, avocados, (and even sharks!). The company also makes sandwich bags in an extra-large size, and long-lasting, biodegradable paper straws as well. The regular bags come with a closure strip, while their unbleached sandwich bags come with resealable stickers. If you are looking for planet-friendly food storage bags that are freezer or microwave friendly, then you’re in luck, as Lunchskins make those as well.
