Vegan cheese is a product that people tend to be very passionate about. While most vegans do not “miss” cheese, when trying to cook with a substitute, they may find a difficult time of it.
For those who do miss the taste of cheese, the struggle to find one that can adequately replace that product they’ve longed for seems almost an impossible task.
Enter the Follow Your Heart brand of cheeses. This brand, for those who have tried it, is one that most will swear by. While it may be hard to find a non-dairy product that tastes like cheese, or melts like cheese, to find a product that can check both boxes is amazing.
When I first found the Follow Your Heart brand a while back, I had tried several alternative cheese products that not only didn’t cut it but, on occasion, I literally had to spit out. Some looked like plastic; some tasted like plastic; others had an aftertaste that was difficult to get out of your mouth. In short, none of them tasted like cheese. However, this brand, specifically the first one from this company that I ever tried, Follow Your Heart Smoked Gouda Style Slices, looked, tasted, and even smelled like the dairy cheese it was copying.
It also passed my melt test. I made a grilled cheese sandwich with it, and not only did it melt perfectly, it tasted great! The cheese even tastes great right out out of the package! It had the firm texture I was hoping for and just the right amount of “smokiness”.
I truly can’t say enough about this company’s wonderful cheeses and dressings. I tried many of their other products after tasting this one – the one that started me down the road to being a loyal fan.
